Glencoe

Bottom of Mugs Alley, The Canyon, with Main Basin above.

Day 27 of Scottish season 15/16. It had been a late night as I repaired my board from the previous day and only finished p-texing and waxing my board just before 1:00am. I left just after 8:00am to get to the hill just before 10:00am. Today had been forecast to be sunny, but it was actually cloudier than the day before. There was also slightly more of a chill in the air, but no fresh snow.

Main Basin had been groomed, so had Happy Valley so these were the subject of my shredding for most of the day. The choppy snow on other pistes had set up hard over night but it did soften up through the day.

Visibility was OK, the cloud sat above the summit with the odd patch of sunshine peaking through.

I may have now equalled the most number of days snowboarding in a year. Glencoe are hoping to make it into May, so hopefully I’ll reach my goal of 30 days on Scottish snow.

For anyone interested in visiting Glencoe Mountain Resort in the final weeks of the season, they are offering discounted passes, so get yourself up there.
