Glencoe Mountain Resort

DAY 7 OF THE SCOTTISH SEASON 16/17

Just had to take a few days off work since there had been another flurry of snow. Nothing big, but just enough to get Glencoe up and running again. What’s more, there was a chance of sunshine. I had taken Thursday and Friday off and made my way out of Glasgow at the worst possible time. Escaping the city along with everyone going to work was not the best tactic. The road up Loch Lomond wasn’t much better.
I made it to Glencoe around 10:30 and immediately made my way up the chairlift in beautiful sunshine. The day looked promising.
There wasn’t a massive amount of snow, but the access Poma was running and once up the Cliffhanger Chair I would stay in Main Basin for the rest of the day.
It was chilly, so the snow remained nice and where it wasn’t narrow and rocky, the snow was in excellent shape. Skier packed powder and the occasional hard pack at the bottom of Happy Valley.
Despite the carpark looking pretty full, it wasn’t busy. Occasionally there would be enough folk at the T-bar to warrant doubling up. I didn’t bother with Spring Run, but I may try it on Friday if the snow holds up.

I decided to stay up in the area and went on after snowboarding to take some photos. The sun was setting and lighting up the landscape beautifully. Its great at this time of year as the days are longer.
I stopped by the Buachaille as well as Glencoe itself, capturing some large scale panoramas then onward to Fort William for something to eat.
Looking forward to an early start tomorrow and making the most of the sunshine. 3 more days and this season pass may just have payed for itself!
