Day 1 of the Scottish season 16/17.

Not much in the way of snow, but what was there had survived warm wind and rain of storms Barbara and Conor over the festive period.

Glencoe Mountain Resort announced on their Facebook Page, that they would give it a go. Kicking of the season on 28th December with the Plateau Poma and Access Chair opening up the beginners areas.

If you wanted more, you had to earn it. So I started hiking up Mugs Alley and up the left side of the Main Basin T-bar. With a strong wind and grey overhead conditions, I stopped intermittently to take photos and some video.

The area is in need of snow to really get things going, but the conditions were good in Main Basin and down the Wall and Crossover to the Cafe.

Fingers crossed that a cold spell will bring much needed snow so we can get this properly underway.

I’m still experimenting with video. Despite carrying a full DSLR kit, I didn’t shoot any video on it, instead a relied on my trusty little Powershot G16 and my Contour Camera on a pole.
