Lockdown Mission No.6
After the usual hike to the rescue hut, I found the summit lift to be spinning. It looked like ski training was on. I tentatively asked if I could ride the lift. Reticently I was told there had been getting grief from WebCam watchers so no lift service for me.
I hadn’t brought my snowshoes as there is no new snow since my last visit. So I used my crampons for the first time and hiked up Etive Glades. It was icy if not rocky. I ascended in parallel with Happy Valley and made my way to the top of the main basin.
I had a bite to eat then made turns down happy Valley. It was grey with cloud at the summit but the ice was softening so I returned to the summit. Someone suggested I jump on the ski lift but I didn’t want the ski centre to get into trouble. So I strapped into my crampons once again and made my way to the summit once again.
Second run down was even softer. This time I continued down the plateau poma track. Then hiked back to the car.
