Glencoe

Day 14 of Scottish season 15/16. Another bright weekend was predicted and sure enough the sun was out this Saturday morning. I had my breakfast and made my way up the access chair. There was bright sunshine with a touch of cloud. While queuing at the rescue hut, mid mountain I thought I recognised some folk in the line. It’s always hard when people are hidden behind goggles and helmets. It turned out to be Steve and Richard who is originally met on the #scotskimeet2015 last year not to mention a few other meets since. After introducing me to their friends Dan and Chris I went about introducing them to the mountain as they had not been to Glencoe Mountain Resort before.

They had already done the Springy, so I took them down Happy Valley which was in awsome condition with churned up groomed fluff, straight on down the Wall. Then once again the top of Happy Valley before turning left into Etive Glades. Although this was wind scoured in places, there were some soft spots too and the views across to Buachaille Etive Mor are second to none.

I think the guys were impressed even though they had left early in the journey from the East coast.

The bright weather was gradually replaced by a chilly breeze and a bit of cloud cover by the afternoon.

The snow cover is still excellent, from summit to access chair. For those that fancy it, there is some combat skiing to the carpark. I like my board though.

It was great to show off Glencoe in a day like today. If only it had been like this on the #Scotskimeet2016.

Conditions are looking good for tomorrow when I’ll be attending the Freeride Clinic in order to sharpen up my skill set.
