Glencoe, Saturday 4th January 2014

Saturday saw the first break in the weather since new year. Storm sets had been continuously rolling in from the Atlantic over the holiday period. This meant lots of people were keen to get out. Glencoe Mountain Resort was well covered in snow, with ski anywhere conditions. The queues were long though. All the main list were open except Rannoch Button. Main Basin had lovely soft snow, but visibility was terrible most of the time up top. Lower down you could see, and the snow was a bit firmer with a crust on. It was a good day to be out though and everyone else thought so as we lined up just to get off the mountain via the access chair. The storms have been coming from the South West and luckily have been providing a good amount of snow and not warm wet weather. The wind has been the only issue. Let’s hope it stays down for the rest of the season.
