Glencoe, Saturday 10th January 2014

A snowy drive across Rannoch Moor ended in a full car park at @GlencoeMountainResort. After the queue for tickets I made my way up the access chair and had a warm up run down Mugs Alley. Great coverage, lower down a bit grippy with ice. Some fresh was being blown around making for some soft patches. Further up the hill, in the Main Basin conditions were great. The wind that blew was resurfacing the snow on each run. It was deeps, soft and fun. Spinning a few powder butters as I made my way down over the ‘filled to the brim’ Haggis Trap and down to the end of the top T-bar queue. Just after lunch the Wall T-bar failed and everyone was in the Cliffy making for 30min queues. We stayed up top after that and to top lines didn’t take too long. Sunny spells with a cold north-westerly wind prevailed and visibility was descent out of the squally spindrift blasts.
The park looks set at the bottom of Thrombisis but conditions around it were rutted and icy. Maybe pay it a visit later in the season.
