Day 9 at Glencoe Mountain Resort in Scotland
No fresh snow for a while, but were making it work. I had thought of staying overnight after yesterday’s Upbattle event, but decided against it in favour of my own soft bed for the night. I had friends coming up and we’d be staying Sunday and Monday nights in the Microlodges. In my case, the car (to avoid snoring).
Conditions
The snow was pretty icy still and there wasn’t a lot to go around. The winds were light and best of all it was dry with decent visibility.
It was still being advised not to use Spring Run as the icy entrance was too difficult for ski patrol to get in with a rescue sledge.
Happy Valley was starting to break up and Main Basin provided the majority of action.
The wall provided slightly closer access to the Plateau Cafe with less of a hike needed than the Mugs Alley route.
We have some beginners in our group tomorrow, so they’re going to have to expedite there skill levels to get much out of their stay on Monday.
On my way down the wall I had to travers across the slope above some climber, practicing digging pits. Normally I would never do this. But the snow was solid and not likely to slide.
