Friday Clarity

Friday, the last day of January, delivered a fresh fall of snow at Glencoe Mountain Resort. While I couldn’t make it on Thursday, the forecast promised new snowfall—though with the risk of fog and mist, I had some concerns about visibility.

Riding up the chairlift, I was relieved to catch glimpses of blue sky and brief moments of sunlight lighting up the snow-covered slopes. The air was slightly warmer than expected, carrying a touch of moisture that made the fresh snow a little heavy, but still fun to ride.

A promise of clarity

I headed straight for the Cliffy Chairlift and made my way to the top of The Wall—a steeper run that helped counteract any sticky conditions. The mountain wasn’t overly crowded, but there was a solid turnout for a Friday.

The best turns of the day? The Wall was fantastic in the morning, the run beneath the Cliffhanger Chair was a blast too. The return under the Rannoch Chair was running fast, perfect for carving.

Despite the forecast, visibility held strong all day. No bright sunshine, but the mountain remained clear while the surrounding landscape lay hidden under thick blankets of fog—giving the whole place an incredible atmosphere.

Looking ahead, the weather might take a turn, but I’m hoping to squeeze in more days on the slopes this weekend. Fingers crossed for new snow and colder temps soon.
