As a regular mountain user, I was struck by the horrific news that an earthquake somewhere in Nepal had set off avalanches that struck Everest base camp, killing several people. As the story unfolded and I realised that the disaster had struck Kathmandu and outlying areas the scale of this disaster really hit home.
